Bundi was founded in 1342 A.D. by a Hada Chauhan Chief, South east of Ajmer lies Bundi. A luminous white fort shelters the quaint houses a steep paved carriage way leads up to a complex of a lovely places iridescent with exquisite murals everthing reflected in a deep lapping lake in the centre. Bundi paintings are famous for the perfect link between Ajanta cave paintings and frescoes of Rajasthan.

TARAGARH OR THE STAR FORT

The white fort on top of a thickly wooded hill is one of the most picturesque in Rajasthan, it contains an enormous tank which supplied the palace with water . A curious situation occurs every year during the monsson. When the water rises above the danger level sluice gates are opened the lanes of the city turn into miniature canals.

THE PALACE

Built by Maharaja Balwant singh it displays some of the best features of Rajput architecture.

NAVAL SAGAR


A picturesque lake that adds to the charm of the city in the centre of which is a temple dedicated to the God varuna.


CHHATAR MAHAL

Known as the palace of towers it has the typical feature of a Diwani-e-am massive guarded gates and also an antique water clock which is rung ery half hour . It is an open courtyard with a gallery running around a garden of fountains.

CHITRASHALA

This place is noted for the murals illustrating the Radha- krishna legends. The 18th century murals are some of the finest.

PHOOL MAHAL


Or the palace of flowers has a collection of murals built by italian prisoners of war and also several hunting relics.


SHIKAR BURJ

The royal hunting lodge stands in the forest south of Phool sagar or the lake of flowers. Bundi woods are full of wild life and the royal hunts for tiger, deer and wild boar were famous.

SUKH NIWAS

Was once the scene of royal revelry for the gay parties that were held in the palace overlooking a beautiful lake.
