The district falls under the Mewar circuit. With its crystal lakes and palaces the city stands different in the characteristics of most other cities of Rajasthan. The city is built by Maharana Uday Singh. Lake Palace, Zenana Mahal, Lake Pichola, Lake Fateh Sagar, Jagdish Mandir, Saheliyon - ki - bari, Bahrtiya Lok kala Mandir, Ahar and Gulab Baug are the most famous places to see within the city amongst many. The countryside around Udaipur is strewn with the temples, towns, forests and lakes. The lake in Jaisalmer is the largest artificial lake in Asia.
