JODHPUR DISTRICT MAP

The city of Jodhpur was founded by Rao Jodha in 1459 A.D. The city is a gateway to the beautiful land of sand dunes of the Thar desert. It is a city of palaces, forts and temples. Like Jaisalmer, it used to be a major trade centre. Mehrangarh fort is perhaps the finest and most striking fort in Rajasthan. Umaid Bhawan palace is the only palace built in 20th century to employ people as a relief operation. Museum, Balsamand Lake, Mandore, Kailana lake are the other famous places to visit. With in the district Dhawa wildlife sanctuary, Sardar Samand lake, Osiyan are worth visitng.
